  • Who can take this course?

    Nursing Registration - Each applicant must hold a current non-restricted Nursing Registration/License (temporary or full) from a Canadian territory or province. Foot Care Nurse Training – Each applicant must have completed a Canadian Foot Care Nurse course(s), which included both theory and onsite training.

  • Can I work at my own pace?

    This course is designed to be completed independently, at your own pace. There are no interactive components (webinars, group activities, etc).

  • What do I do AFTER I have completed this course?

    If you are interested in teaching our FCT Clinical and Workshop curriculum in your own community, after successfully completing the FCN Educator Course you are eligible to purchase the Foot Canada Training Curriculum License at the Alumni price.

  • Are there required textbooks for this course?

    Students are expected to purchase the following 2 textbooks: Art & Science of Foot Care: A Clinical Resource for Nurses in Canada (2017). (Available for purchase at FriesenPress.com) Bastable, Susan B. (2018) Nurse as Educator: Principles of Teaching and Learning for Nursing Practice. 5th Edition. Burlington, Massachusetts: Jones & Bartlett. (Available on Amazon.com)

  • How long is the course?

    This course was designed to be completed in approximately 100 hours. Students will be given 180 days to complete the course. At this point online access will be disabled.

Julie Gauthier BAH, BEd

Instructor Julie Gauthier

Julie has been collaborating with the Foot Canada Training team since 2002. As the new Executive Director she uses her love of teaching to enhance the Foot Canada Training courses and curriculum, and her attention to detail has been a real asset in the publishing of the Art & Science of Foot Care textbook. She is looking forward to helping FCT to expand to additional markets and developing new and exciting materials, courses and events in the years to come!

Instructor Cindy Lazenby

Cindy Lazenby, founding President of Foot Canada Training and lead author of Art and Science of Foot Care: A Clinical Resource for Nurses in Canada, has been a Registered Nurse since 1981, a Foot Care Nurse provider and Educator since 1993, and she is currently Foot Canada Training’s Education Advisor. In 2010, Cindy was a founding contributor and the first Chair of the CAFCN (Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses).
